If you could ask God for ONE thing in 2020, what would it be?

Hi Friends!

I have been reading through the Old Testament all year and have only made it to 1 Kings. I enjoyed studying King David so much that it took me two months to get through his life. But now that David's reign is over, King Soloman is up next. Soloman could not have had a better role model than his father, David. He was human, but he sure did love the Lord. In a slightly different way, Soloman became well-known throughout the nations.

In chapter 4, all kinds of people came to listen to Soloman's wisdom. Was he just naturally born wise? Did he get his wisdom from David? How much of life did he experience to have so much wisdom? Y'ALL. This guy was only about 20 years old when he became king of Israel. He KNEW he was young and inexperienced. The entire nation of Israel knew and I think that's why they were so amazed by his wisdom (1 Kings 4:34).

So, where did it come from?

In 1 Kings 3, the Lord appeared to Soloman in a dream: "Ask. What should I give to you?"

Soloman could have asked for anything he wanted. He could have asked to live a long life of health and wealth, but he chose to be given a receptive heart. He was vulnerable by showing his dependency on the Lord. He knew that he would not be able to reign as a successful king without the help of the Lord. In this, he became the wisest man to ever live. God also blessed him with both riches and honor because He was pleased by his request.

As I am reading about King Soloman's humble request, I am starting to think of all the things I have asked God for in the past. From the healing of my parent's marriage all the way down to the purpose in this season of waiting.

I know that every New Year we have this list of resolutions that we plan to accomplish by the next New Year. But what if we pause for a second and ask ourselves this question: If I could ask God for ONE thing in 2020, what would it be?

Hi Friend. I have chosen one thing for 2020. Have you? If you have, please let me know what your one thing is. I would love to pray over you during this New Year. I hope 2019 has been so good to you, but I am hoping that 2020 is going to be even better.
